How To: Backup Bookmarks Firefox

You will consistently hear about how you need to back up your data. This is absolutely true, you should be backing up all of your data. However one of the things that seem most forgotten in a backup is your bookmarks. I’ve known people with 100’s of bookmarks, who lost them all because they didn’t have a backup and something happened to their PC. The following post is a How-To on making sure you Backup Bookmarks in Firefox.

How To Backup Bookmarks In Firefox

It’s actually pretty easy if you know what you are looking at, to back up the bookmark information. Just follow these steps.

  • With Firefox open, click the Bookmarks tab on the very top of the screen -> then click on Show All Bookmarks

  • From the Library window, highlight All Bookmarks and then click on the

  • In the window that opens, select Export Bookmarks to HTML.

  • Lastly, in the window that opens, just pick the name you want to call your backup and the location you want to save to.

  • For those looking to import bookmarks, it’s the same steps. Only difference, click Import Bookmarks From HTML

Final Thoughts

Backup, Backup, Backup!!! Once something is deleted, it can be possible to recover what is lost sometimes, but not always. So always make sure you have a current backup of all of your data.  You just don’t want to take chances.
