How To uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from your Mac.

That one seems to be a question that has come up alot recently from Mac owners who installed the popular anti-malware program but can’t seem to figure out the steps to remove it.  Today’s post will cover the steps you need to take to Uninstall Malwarebytes on a Mac.

    How To

For starters, contrary to popular opinion Macs can also be susceptible to malware. These days most users get infected because of social engineering, where a user receives and clicks on a message with a link (email or iMessage) or is tricked into visiting a bogus site that downloads the malware.  Malwarebytes is one of the go-to applications to check for malware on both Windows and Mac machines.  Once installed, there could be a need to uninstall Malwarebytes, and that is where it gets interesting on a Mac.

    Uninstalling Malwarebytes

On a Windows machine it’s easy to uninstall, just go to the control panel, programs, and features, highlight and uninstall. Mac systems have different ways to uninstall depending on the program, where you downloaded it from, the time of day, the temperature outside, and many other things no one seems to understand. In the case of Malwarebytes, if you need to uninstall, use the following steps.

    • Open Malwarebytes, once it is open, look at the top of your screen on the menu bar.  You will see (towards the left) Malwarebytes, Edit, Window, Help. Click on Help.  There you will see the choice to Uninstall Malwarebytes.

    Malwarebytes Uninstall Step 1

    • You will get prompted about being sure you wish to proceed.  Click Yes

    Malwarebytes uninstall step 2

    • Once you click yes, you will see the program disappear from the screen, but the program will still be listed if you go into launchpad.  To finish the uninstall, reboot.

    Final Thought

I just wish Apple would have 1 procedure for uninstalling programs.  That’s it.
