How To Change Your Facebook Page Name
You run/manage a Facebook page, business page, organization page, public figure page, or community page, and you need to change its name. The steps to change a Facebook public page differ from the steps needed to change your personal Facebook page. Today’s post will go over the steps needed to make name changes to your public Facebook page.
Where To Start Doing The FB Page Name Change
The Facebook page name change may be required because your business name changed, or your public figure page included the name of somewhere you don’t work anymore, among the many reasons for a change of name. There are a couple of steps you need to take to verify before you actually do the name change
- You need to make sure you have full control access to the business page
To make sure you have full control of the page, make sure you have switched to your business page, click on the profile icon (top right corner), and in the drop-down that opens, select Meta Business Suite. From the Meta Business Suite page, click on the settings icon (the cog on the lower left of the page). On the next screen, look for People in the Users section under Business Info.
When you click People, the screen that opens will list all the users that have access. For security’s sake, this would be a good time to verify that only users who should have access are listed. In addition, at least 1 of the users listed needs to show FULL ACCESS – EVERYTHING. The user listed as Full Access is the one that needs to be logged in to make the change.
If you don’t have a user listed as Full Access, this is the screen where you need to change one of the users to Full Access. Now that you are logged in as a Full Access user, you can move on to actually making the name change on your business page.
Next Steps After Confirming You Have Full Access
**One thing to keep in mind before you continue: you can only make a change once every 60 days. So make sure you plan and pay attention to the name change, because if you make a mistake, misspell some part of it, or change your mind after you make the change, you will need to wait 60 days before you can change it again. **
- At this point, you should be on your business page.
Make sure you are still on the business page, and you haven’t moved back to your personal page.
- Now, from your business page, click on your profile icon (top right) again, and this time select Settings & Privacy -> then click Settings.
- On the window that opens, look for the Audience & Visibility section and click on Page Setup under that section.

- When you click on Page Setup, A new window will open. On that page, you will see the current name of your page. Click on the lower listing of your name, under where it says Name.

- Now you will see Name and User Name. Name is the page name you see next to your profile picture (the circle picture). Username is the Facebook page address. Click Edit next to each one and change it to the new name you want.

It is recommended that you change both to the same name to make it easier for your page to be found on Facebook. Once you make each change, click on Review Change. This is the final chance to make any edits, remember as said previously, once you submit changes, you will be stuck with what you type for 60 days. So double and triple-check before the next step, Request Change.
- At this point, if everything is in order and the changes are to your satisfaction, click on Request Change. You will be prompted for your account password to verify your request. Then, if everything works correctly, you will get the confirmation message that your request is under review. It can take up to 7 days for the request to be confirmed by Meta and updated.
