Apple: New iPhone–iPhone 4S now confirmed

apple Updates as of 2:45 p -

Many things will be coming out in the next hour or 2 concerning the new Apple iPhone 5 and the rumored 2nd version of the iPhone.  It seems just short of the announcement from Apple (scheduled for 10 am PST), there is now 1 thing that can be confirmed

There will be 2 phones released by Apple this year. There will be an iPhone 5 (based on all the hype and information so far) and there  will also be an iPhone 4S edition (rumored to be the lower end / cheaper version).

The iPhone 4S seems to now be confirmed based on the Apple Tokyo site (LINK) http://www.apple.com/jp/retail/ginza/#onetoone_browser_gettingstarted (http://www NULL.apple NULL.com/jp/retail/ginza/#onetoone_browser_gettingstarted)

which is now showing an iPhone 4S listed on its site.

More Information to follow -

UPDATE: @ 2:40p –>

Prices for the iPhone 4S are as follows:

$199 for 16 gigabytes of storage,

$299 for 32 GB, and

$399 for 64 GB.

There will be an iPhone 4 with 8 GB for $99. And there will be an iPhone 3GS for… free, with a two-year contract.

Preorders for the 4S start Oct. 7, delivery on the 14th.

Sprint gets it too! So a world phone on three out of four major networks

So it seems that there is NO iPhone 5 (Don’t believe all the rumors). The new iPhone is the 4S. The only rumor that appears to be correct is that yes Sprint will also have iPhones.

iPhone: How to capture a picture of your screen

apple-logo There are many reasons why getting a picture of your screen is helpful.  You may want to take a picture of a text or IM conversation, an error, a game score, or anything else imaginable, are just some of the reasons I’m aware of.

iPhone

The following simple steps can be taken to capture a picture of any screen of the iPhone

Step 1: Navigate to The Screen You Want to Capture

Move to the screen you want to that an image of just like normal. Make sure it appears on the screen exactly as you want it to appear in the picture. Once you see it on the screen exactly as you want it, you’re ready to take a screenshot!

Step 2: Take The Screenshot

Taking the screenshot is an easy process, as you only need to push 2 buttons:

  1. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top, right edge of the phone
  2. At the same time press the home button 2 times (short presses)

The screen will flash momentarily, signifying the picture has been taken. These screenshots are now automatically saved as photos in your camera roll.

Apple: iPhone is FINALLY coming to Verizon (in the U.S.)

apple Verizon is getting the iPhone, in an announcement made just a short time ago in NYC, it was finally confirmed.  After a couple of years of speculation, Pre-orders for the iPhone will start on Feb 3rd with the device actually going on sale on Feb 10th. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind, if you are thinking about a Verizon iPhone

  • Verizon has yet to announce what the data plan will be. As of this post, they had the announcement, but the one thing that was missing from it, was the data plan requirements. Remember this is an iPhone, one of its biggest draws is the apps, and a large amount of the apps require data usage.
  • The Verizon iPhone will be CDMA which is the older/slower 3G version compared to the newer 4G or LTE networks (Analogy – If it helps clear things up, imagine CDMA/3G as being VHS and 4G/LTE* as DVD). Due to the limitation of CDMA, that also means you can’t web surf and talk on the phone at the same time.
  • Verizon requires a 2 yr. agreement. If you go for an iPhone you REALLY to know what the cost/penalty will be if you want to move to the next generation iPhone that works on LTE before your 2 yr. agreement is up.
  • In addition, if you are an AT&T iPhone owner, and you are thinking “Great I can now leave AT&T, (considering AT&T has won the honor as the worst cell phone company when it comes to customer satisfaction the 2 past yrs., you will need to buy a new Verizon version of the phone as the GSM (AT&T) iPhones do NOT work on the CDMA Verizon network.  (So getting out of your AT&T agreement early and then buying a new iPhone could cost you more than $700 to move)

Apple: iOS Table Edition

apple To my knowledge the “Table Connect for iPhone” is in no way an official Apple product and there are even questions on how REAL this video is, however with that being said, I still think this is pretty sweet.  The Apple version of the Microsoft Surface table.

Finally a screen I can see clearly

Apple: (From Gizmodo) Apple Security Breach Gives Complete Access to Your iPhone (ALERT)

apple Gizmodo is reporting that a new vulnerability has been found that affects iPhone, iPod, and iPads

From Gizmodo -

Right now, if you visit a web page and load a simple PDF file, you may give total control of your iPhone, iPod touch (http://gizmodo NULL.com/tag/ipodtouch/), or iPad to a hacker. The security bug affects all devices running iOS 3.1.2 and higher.

Update: Initially we thought that this exploit only effected iOS4 devices, but it turns out all iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads running 3.1.2 and higher are susceptible.

The vulnerability is easily exploitable. In fact, the latest one-click, no-computer-required Jailbreak solution for iOS 4 devices (http://gizmodo NULL.com/5601874/jailbreakme-20-jailbreaks-all-apple-ios-40-401-and-321-devices) uses this same method to break Apple’s own security (although in a completely benign way for the user).

The result is that, without any user intervention whatsoever, that program can do whatever it wants inside your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. Anything you can imagine: Delete files, transmit files, install programs running on the background that can monitor your actions… anything can be done.

The short answer to this issue is that you need to be careful and not click on any links to PDFs on your iPhone, iPod, or iPad until Apple releases an update to this issue.

The complete post can be found on the Gizmodo site (LINK:) http://gizmodo.com/5603319/ (http://gizmodo NULL.com/5603319/)

Alert: iPods are HOT, no really I mean HOT! (Literally)

Since the release of the iPod 3G (and now with the 3GS models) of the iPod there have been reports of the units getting extremely hot.  Finally Apple has released an alert (  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2101 (http://support NULL.apple NULL.com/kb/HT2101)) concerning the overheating issue.

“Operate iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause the device to temporarily stop working properly”.

“Store iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in a place where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range”.

With the personal experience of havng lived in the Southwest US where the average outside temp is over 100’s during the summer (and I know that’s not the only area to get high temperatures during various times of the year), not to mention what your car feels like when the temp outside gets to 105/110, I’m sure we will be seeing more of these postings concerning the iPod and overheating.

Some conditions and activities that may activate the Temperature warning message:

  • Leaving the device in a car on a hot day.
  • Leaving it in direct sunlight for extended amounts of time.
  • Using certain applications in hot conditions or direct sunlight for long periods of time, such as GPS tracking in a car on a sunny day or listening to music while in direct sunlight.

If you do get past the “safety standards” set into the system you may see the following screen

Apple hot message

“This message appears when the operating temperature has become too hot. This is a safety mechanism that protects the components of your device. If this message appears, you should turn the device off, move it to a cooler environment, and allow it to cool before resuming use”.

“Note: When this message appears, the device may still be able to make emergency calls”.
