I received this question in a message last week, for the 1st time, and since then I have had 5 others ask. I know 5 isn’t a lot, but if 5 are asking always assume 50 are having the issue. The other 45 just don’t know who to ask or what to ask. So here is a quick Q&A answer to a misbehaving iPad question. Misbehaving iPad / iPhone
PROBLEM: My iPad screen has decided it likes the horizontal position and will NOT let me get her back on her feet. I know about the “Lock Rotation” button, and it is in the “off” position. I can’t seem to get her off her back. It’s driving me nuts because while I can position the iPad vertically and can see the home screen icons VERTICALLY, when I click on something, say Facebook, Pinterest, or even Words with Friends, it gets horizontal again and I CANNOT for the life of me, get her to rotate vertically.
Sooooooo……. any ideas? Advice?
SOLUTION: Run the iOS system reset (I don’t know if that’s the official name for this process, its just what I like to call it)
- Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider)
- At which point the Apple logo should appear
This process wont erase any content from the iPad, it’s the iPad equivalent of a reboot. As confirmed by each person who asked the question, that fixed the issue every time.
