There are many reasons why a Force Restart of your iOS device would be needed. The following How To: Force Restart iOS will go over a simple procedure you can take to fix the issues.
Anything from a device that randomly freezes, to not being able to connect to WiFi, to and unresponsive device could be a reason for doing the Force Restart. As posted there are many reasons why your would want to Force Restart your iOS device. For some they may know it as a Hard Restart, but call it Forced Restart or Hard Restart it is the same procedure.
Force Restart iOS
There is a different procedure, depending on the version of iPhone/iPad you have.
- For Newer Devices – iPhone 8, 8Plus, X, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max and 2018 iPad Pro’s (Basically anything without the home button)
- Press and quickly release the volume up button
- Press and quickly release the volume down button
- Press and hold the side button.
- When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
- Press and hold both the volume down button and the Sleep/Wake button.
- When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
- iPhone 6s, 6s Plus and iPhone SE
- Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button.
- When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
Final Thought
Usually a standard reboot handles issues on iOS, but when that doesn’t work, doing the Force Restart may just be necessary.
