TGM: (1/31) Update on the latest changes to TechGeekandMore

TGM The New TechGeekandMore changes are coming along.  If you would like to follow TGM via Twitter or RSS you can now access the Twitter and RSS feeds for TechGeekandMore using the icons on the top right of the TechGeekandMore site.

Simply click on either of the links and you will automatically taken to either the TGM Twitter or RSS feed page, where you can sign up to follow TechGeekandMore.

Another change involves being able to contact TechGeekandMore, and now if you would like to send a message to TGM you can very easily.

If you scroll down the right side any page you will see the listing for TechGeekandMore pages.  There you can click on the “Contact TechGeekandMore” link which will send you to the TGM form.  Questions, comments, requests are always welcomed.  This is in addition to comments that can still be left at the bottom of any posting.

In addition you will now see at the bottom of the TGM blog a few banners ads for TechGeekandMore partners.  Currently the banner listed is for iDrive. TGM became a partner for iDrive because everyone should be backing up their computers and iDrive makes it simple and inexpensive. For the record, if you sign up for iDrive via the TGM banner, TGM will receive a small payment per person who uses the TGM banner. TGM values its reputation and limit ads to specific areas of the site, where they will be clearly listed, and will only recommend items or have ads for items that TGM knows will benefit its readers.  We will NOT have ads just for ads sake.

Finally, if you scroll down the page of TechGeekandMore, you will also see a link to Donate to TechGeekandMore.  TGM was started with the goal of informing and helping as many people as possible to understand the language of Tech.  To most users, talking about Technology issues is like talking a foreign language.  However, there are some expenses with running TGM, and a lot of time and heart put into trying to make TGM informative and helpful to those who visit. As a user, I hate going to sites, trying to read a story, that is broken into pieces in between tons of ads.  It is our hope and goal to never do that to TGM, but we like everyone else have bills to pay. So if you are a reader of TGM and have been helped by something you have seen here on TGM, I am asking for a donation to help keep TechGeekandMore going.

TGM: Big Change coming to TechGeekandMore

TGM When I started TechGeekandMore (TGM) 11 months ago, the idea I had was to have some way that I could relate my knowledge of technology to a some of my clients, friends and family members, since with technology its seems the questions are the same no matter if it comes from a business person, a long time friend, or your brother. “I clicked on something, and now my computer is ………” is as common as “How are you” to most techs. 

     Honestly when TGM started I never figured it to more than a hobby.  However, with the questions, requests, and visitors (Not all of which are related to me) that come in everyday, not only is the site more than I ever expected, it’s reached a point where TechGeekandMore is growing up. 

     Starting today, and over the next couple of days, TGM is moving to its own hosting provider.  TGM v2, will be able to offer more features, (as soon as everything is running at our new host) and hopefully help inform more people about Technology in simple terms, which is at the core of what TGM will always be.

      I just ask the readers of TGM to have a little patients while we get everything moved over, I think you will like what the new v2 TGM site will offer. Thank you for visiting TechGeekandmore

And More!: Announcing a few changes to TechGeekandMore

     computer_cartoon Hello Everyone. There are a couple of new changes that I’m very happy to report on.

1st Change – TechGeekandMore is growing up.  We are now TechGeekandMore.com, The original address for TGM at TechGeekandMore.wordpress.com will now send you automatically to TechGeekandMore.com. 

2nd Change – We have an addition and now I guess I can call it a staff for TGM.  Andrew Schooler has joined me on the TGM project. Andrew is a fellow tech with years of experience in the support area, so he has heard pretty much everything to do with that thing-a-ma-bob. His 1st post for TGM Software: Organizing web sites, it’s all in the Icon. A Tweak for your web browser. (http://techgeekandmore NULL.com/2009/10/30/organizing-web-sites-its-all-in-the-icon/) involves a very simple tweak that you can use in either Firefox or Chrome (As tested but could work in other browsers too) where you can create multiple browser launch icons and have each icon open a different set of homepages.  Its a simple idea, but it had never occurred to me, so I’m sure others out there will think the same thing.

       We have a few more things in the plans soon for TGM (including we hope some stuff to giveaway), we hope the information we post here helps those of you who have been stopping in the TGM.  The idea for TGM came from the fact that as a tech I get the same questions 10 to 20 times a day, virtually every day (even weekends).  So now TGM is here to post those answers, because if you have a question concerning technology, I can guarantee you that I can find a lot of other people with the same question as you. TGM was started to try to explain and more importantly answer those question in simple English (or your native language if you are using the site translator), not in tech-speak or geek-speak.  We know there are many choices out there for technology information (just do a Bing or Google search and see) but most of those sites use the languages of Tech or Geek (and yes are considered foreign languages to many).  TGM will always do its best to make sure the explanations are in a way that normal people can understand.
