With an announcement on the Internet Explorer Facebook Page (https://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/internetexplorer), Microsoft has now released Internet Explorer 10 for those on Windows 7.
Working with a client this week I came across the challenge of being able to sync 100s of contacts and months of calendar dates that were located on Apple’s iCloud with the contacts and the calendar located in Outlook. The client uses both and iPhone and iPad to create emails, store contact information, and manage his calendars, but has a need when in the office to also access that information from Outlook (2007 in his case). iCloud has an add-in for Outlook that lets you see your calendar and contacts, however because Apple and Microsoft use 2 different file types for their contacts and calendars, so you can’t set iCloud to be the default for either calendar or contacts in Outlook for Windows (Outlook for Mac does let you do it). What happens is that if you want to add/edit a calendar or contact while in Outlook, you basically have to do it 2 times.
This is where iCloud Sync from CodeTwo comes in. What iCloud Sync does (in a very simple way) is allow you to autosync the files between the 2 formats automatically. The install of iCloud is simple, the configuration of the sync is designed so even someone with no tech knowledge can do it, and for a one time cost of $20 the price is very reasonable (the program does have a 30 day full trial for FREE to make sure it will work for you).
Lets start by saying out loud, “COMPUTERS AREN’T PERFECT, THEY BREAK”. Seriously you could get anything from a corrupt file, to a virus, to hardware issues (motherboard, power supply, hard drive could fail). If you are walking with a laptop or a tablet, you could trip, drop it and have it break (Seriously that happens everyday). Having a good and valid backup can save you, at a minimum, your time and a major headache. Sometimes things on a computer are just irreplaceable. I guess your going to have to take the entire family on vacation back to Florida (or insert the location of your last vacation here), or you will have to ask your son/daughter to recreate their 1st baby steps (which will be awkward if they are now teenagers).
There are many ways to back up a computer. Files can be manually transferred to a storage device such as an external hard drive, or uploaded to an online storage facility. Files can be backed up individually or as an entire system. Software for performing backups can be downloaded for free or a very low-cost, may be part of a software suite, or included with a hardware backup utility. The option that will work best for you will depend on your needs and the importance of your files.

**UPDATE: This item is now sold out at HSN
Tech Geek and More doesn’t usually look at Home Shopping Network or HSN.com for deals, but Today’s Special (http://www NULL.hsn NULL.com/electronics/kindle-fire-7-dual-core-8gb-wi-fi-tablet-with-accessories_m-10062515_xp NULL.aspx) is the exception. For today (12/2/12) only, Home Shopping Network has the Kindle Fire 7” Dual Core , 8 GB Wi-Fi tablet on sale. I know some of you are wondering where the deal is, since the $199.95 is the same price you see at the store. However, the one thing that HSN offers that most stores don’t offer is Flex Pay. With Flex Pay you can get the tablet by Christmas and pay $39.99 / month for the next 5 months.
For those using iPhone 4/4S device, one of the limitations they face involve the non-removable battery. If you are a heavy iPhone phone user, the charge time could cause problems, especially if you are not near an electrical outlet. So for those who need to make their iPhone charge last longer, todays Woot Deal of the Day (http://www NULL.woot NULL.com/offers/unu-iphone-4-4s-battery-case-14?utm_source=Daily+Digest&utm_campaign=221aab9c56-Daily+Digest+-+20121111+-+Woot&utm_medium=email#tracked) is something you may want to look at.
It’s stylish and keeps your iPhone running longer. This uNu isn’t just another iPhone 4/4s case; it’s an iPhone 4/4s BATTERY case! That means it doesn’t just look cool and protect your iPhone; it keeps it charged longer too. Now, with a whole extra battery in there, you’d think this thing would be clunky, but it’s not. It’s ultra-slim and sleek.
And the best part: this thing’s cheap. That’s right; it gives you 5 hours of talking and browsing time (7 hours of video; 28 hours of music) and it comes in under 30 bucks WITH shipping! High quality AND low-cost? Sounds like someone gave uNu the resources they needed to really perfect their product!
