Tech Geek and More

The site started in 2009 as a way to “Help Make Tech Easy”. Many technology sites write using a lot of “Geek” terms that the average person just doesn’t understand, while Tech Geek and More focuses on explaining things in a simple, normal way that even the least technical person could understand.

Over the years, Tech Geek and More has grown to the point where the site now averages 20,000 visitors and over 80,000 pageviews a month. According to Google Analytics stats, Tech Geek and More, has reach the milestone of over 1,000,000 pageviews.

From the start of Tech Geek and More, I promised myself that Tech Geek and More would not do all those things that drive me nuts when I web surf. I did NOT and do NOT want pop up ad’s, pop under ad’s, ad banners in the middle of the a post (where you see an ad between each paragraph on a post), for any ad’s that are shown to be confused for something other than an ad, or for the site to look like a NASCAR driver uniform .

Unfortunately, all those things that drive me crazy on other sites are there for those sites to make money. With Tech Geek and More not doing those things, we have limited a revenue stream, and it does take money to keep a site running.

Up to now, it has been a combination of donations from visitors and using money from my “real job” that has financed operations at Tech Geek and More. Unfortunately, I lost  my “Real Job” last month, so I now need to the help of Teach Geek and More readers more than ever.

Donations:

If any of the posts or pages on Tech Geek and More have helped you, would you please consider taking a few seconds to donate to Tech Geek and More. As I just said above, I know I’m not the only one with financial issues due to a job loss. If you are struggling making ends meet, I completely understand (and I’m rooting for you to succeed), but if you can affording anything at all, every penny is appreciated

Tech Geek and More uses PayPal for its donations. You can use all major credit cards, or funds from an existing PayPal account to pay for the donation. International donations are also accepted via PayPal (converted to $US). All donations will help pay for upcoming hosting and domain name charges, as well as pay for future enhancements to the site.

As always, I and everyone who has been involved with Tech Geek and More thank you for visiting and helping.Sincerely,

Alex

Red Bull Stratos – freefall from the edge of space (via Red Bull Stratos)

Congratulations to Felix Baumgartner

The jump took 2 attempts as the 1st attempt was postponed due to wind issues.

As one who has enjoyed skydiving and enjoys daredevil stunts, what Felix Baumgartner did was amazing. I know many people just consider this a marketing stunt by Red Bull who sponsored the jump. Just ask yourself, even if they gave you all the money on planet Earth, would you jump from an altitude of 23 miles? I dont think many people would be able to say yes. Thank You for Helping Tech Geek and More Reach A Milestone

Tech Geek and More started in February 2009 as a pet project. I had a number of clients who all seemed to have the same issue, at the same time.  These clients understood enough that with direction, they could resolve their own issues. These are clients that just needed someone to give them the steps for the solution.  I knew that I needed to find a better way to get the info and solutions I discovered to people without me sounding like a broken record (repeating myself 4 or 5 times a day), and that’s how Tech Geek and More was born.

By November 2010, I started getting messages and emails from others who happened to come across Tech Geek and More with requests for help (most tech support posts are inspired by requests), so I actually added Google Analytics to start tracking visits to Tech Geek and More.  This morning Tech Geek and More reached the 1,000,000 pageviews mark.
